HISTORY
After 12 years of involvement in charitable sailing activities, Quest for Life was established as a Trust
in September 2000. In 2001 we purchased
Seventh Wave, a 49ft safe, comfortable and sea kindlyocean going yacht. Our main cruising area is the West Coast of Scotland; longer term plans are to do
some work in the Med and Canary islands.
AIMS and PURPOSE
One main aim is to offer the vessel to any type of group as an affordable facility to be used for
recreational purposes
, team building, schools work, education of the environment and other activitiesthat help increase the quality of peoples lives. Another purpose is to use the medium of sailing to help
people discover, in a voluntary and non pressurised way, the tremendous values that the Christian faith
can offer their lives. This part of the work is mainly accomplished through church linked groups that
use us. Some corporate charter work is welcomed to help with costs.
A very wide variety of people are invited to sail with us from young to old, experienced sailors to total
novices. All are welcome and we do not discriminate between race, religion or social background.
Where possible, and resources permitting, those who cannot afford the full costs are subsidised and
costs for sailing with us are kept at very reasonable rates.
WHAT WE OFFER
A comfortable modern yacht
which has full safety equipment and complies with the Department ofTransport requirements for small commercial sailing vessels. The skipper holds appropriate qualifications
and has 25 years experience of the sea.
A friendly high quality personal service
is given, with good food provided. People can choose tohelp with the sailing of the boat or just relax and enjoy the scenery.
Cruises that are tailored to the needs and expectations of each group.
Every effort is made to caterfor each group’s particular needs. The aim is that everyone enjoys rather than endures their time with
us.
A superb cruising area.
The West Coast of Scotland is one of the best places in the world to sail. Thescenery is wonderful (including the whales, seals and birds), the sailing exhilarating and with many
sheltered waters conditions don’t have to be too demanding. Exploring the islands of the Hebridies is
fascinating.
